Morocco June-2022

Check out highlights from Morocco!

Paradise and Vibe Morocco just wrapped and it was a trip of a lifetime. Sure that sounds a bit dramatic, but truly it was one of the most memorable trips one could make. We started off in Marrakech in private pool villas, enjoying the hustle and bustle of the city. Marrakech has some absolutely stunning architecture and interior design. The food was deliciously rich and we dined on amazing dishes like Tajine, a North African meal prepared in an earthenware pot. We practiced daily yoga on an open golf course with an amazing view and learned the difference between self-esteem and self-efficacy in workshops led by therapist Dr. Kori Lee. We toured souks aka local markets and enjoyed the Marrakech nightlife. We hiked the Atlas mountains and took sunrise air balloon trips above Marrakech. Marrakech is a city that you can’t fully grasp until you visit. Lively, with an old-world charm. A mix of European, African, and Middle Eastern influences. Truly a delight to experience.

Next, we took a 2.5-hour road trip to Essaouira, Morocco, a coastal city right on the Atlantic Ocean. Our accommodations had stunning views overlooking the ocean from every room. While in this quaint and relaxing beach town, we took kite surf lessons, which was one of the scariest yet thrilling experiences. We learned a beautiful life mantra: when you lose control, let go. That’s how you literally kitesurf. You must ease your grip, to ultimately control the kite. If you find yourself losing control, to stop the kite from sweeping you away, you must let go. After kitesurfing, we explored the city and this town was absolutely charming with cobbled stone streets and ancient buildings that now serve as restaurants and shops. The people of this town were absolutely kind and helpful. Truly a must-see destination when visiting Morocco.

We ended our amazing retreat at luxury camping site, La Pause, just 45 minutes outside of Marrakech. We slept in doorless lodges and tents without any electricity. Now, this may seem like a not-so-fun experience, but let me tell you, it was amazing. The food was the best food we had in all of Morocco; very authentic old Berber living. While camping in the desert, we rode camels, ATV’s, and lounged by pools. We commenced our retreat with a farewell dinner that featured a Berber drumming band and fire show. Of course, the stars were magical. Being in the desert with no electricity lit the sky with hundreds of stars.

Every retreat has its own unique vibe and this one didn’t disappoint. We came together and cultivated a sense of community, played, defined true self-esteem, let go of our past, and re-connected with ourselves. Paradise + Vibe is gearing up for our next round in South Africa and the year of Africa has kicked off with a bang in Morocco. If you missed Morocco, you don’t want to miss South Africa. #tothevibe
