Be Your Own Best Friend

You are an important person who deserves respect and love. You are worth it!

Be your own best friend.

Being your own best friend is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. You don’t need anyone else to tell you how great or special you are, because you know it already.

You should give yourself credit for all of your accomplishments.

You should also be your own cheerleader when times get tough; there’s no reason why others should have all the fun cheering us up when we can do it ourselves just fine!

Listen to yourself.

Listen to your gut, the voice in your head and your dreams. Listen to how you feel when someone says something unkind or hurtful to you. Listen to what it is that makes you happy and what makes you sad, angry or frustrated with life as it is right now.

Show up for yourself by setting boundaries.

If you’re tired of feeling like a doormat, it’s time to set some boundaries. This doesn’t mean being rude or making ultimatums–it means being clear about what you need in order to feel good and then communicating those needs with others.

Boundaries could look like:

Saying “no” when someone asks for help without offering anything in return (like money or time)

Setting limits on how much time you’ll spend with a friend who tends to monopolize conversations or treats others poorly

Take care of yourself physically.

Eat well and exercise.

Get enough sleep, especially if you’re feeling stressed or anxious.

Take care of your mental health by making time for activities that bring you joy and help you feel calm, such as reading, gardening or going on walks in nature with friends.

You are an important person who deserves respect and love.

There’s nothing wrong with you, even if it feels like there is. You are not a failure, or a disappointment, or an unlovable person–no matter what anyone else says or does.

So, there you have it! The five key steps to being a friend to yourself. Remember that everyone has their own journey and it may not always be easy. But if you can practice these tips, then I promise that your life will be better and more fulfilling than ever before!
